In producing the ゾウ貯金箱, we prepare in this order: prototype, wax model, mold (master mold and, if needed, production mold), and coloring masks. We then proceed to mass production of the soft vinyl, coloring, and completion. Below, we explain what each stage involves and how the costs are categorized.
Reference amounts as of October 1, 2025. Amounts also vary with conditions such as size, number of parts, and quantity. Steps 1 to 5 are fixed costs; step 6 is the production cost.
1. Prototype
Based on the three-view drawings, data, and other materials you provide, we create a three-dimensional prototype.
Example: prototype cost from approx. 200,000 yen (clay prototype)
You may also bring in your own prototype. Because molding imposes certain constraints, we may ask you to modify the prototype.
2. Wax Model
We take a cast of the prototype to create a wax model.
Example: wax model cost from approx. 200,000 yen
3. Mold (Master Mold)
We create the mold. This assumes a production run of 500 pieces or fewer at a time.
Example: mold (master mold) cost from approx. 100,000 yen
As a rule, we do not accept mold making from a wax model supplied by the customer.
4. Mold (Production Mold)
If you wish to produce 500 pieces or more, we will guide you on production molds; please contact us separately. Making a production mold requires a master mold to be made first.
5. Coloring Masks
We create the coloring masks. The number of masks varies with the number of colors and other factors.
Example: production cost from approx. 40,000 yen (1 mask for one half of the figure)
6. Soft Vinyl Mass Production, Coloring, and Completion
We produce the figures using the mold and apply the coloring. The production cost varies with the quantity and the amount of coloring work.
