Social Contribution
As a manufacturer, Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing believes that one of our important missions is not only to create products, but also to give back the technology and experience we have built up to society, connecting them to people, to the community, and to the next generation.
The origin of this belief lies in the founder's own experience.
The founder had to leave his parents' home before the age of six, and experienced many hardships in learning and daily life at a young age. Because of this experience, he strongly wished to support, even in a small way, young people about to enter society and students who want to learn.
Carrying on that wish, Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing actively welcomes student interns and local junior high school students for work experience.
for hosting junior high school work experience students.
We want students to experience the real world of manufacturing and, through experiences they cannot gain at school alone, feel the meaning of work, the joy of acquiring skills, and the fun of making things.
We hope that this experience will become an opportunity for each of them to think about their future and lead to new possibilities.
We also value our ties with the local community.
Wanting children to feel the joy of playing with dolls and the warmth of making things, we carry out initiatives for local children, such as giving "OBQP (OBITSUKEWPIE)" to nurseries and to ぷらっと金町 (Plat Kanamachi), an activity facility in front of Kanamachi Station.
For local kindergartens, we also give OBQP to graduating children as a gift to celebrate their new start.
Furthermore, as a manufacturing company, we also strive to waste as little as possible of what is produced during manufacturing, and to connect it to new value.
In the 「みんなのキュピズム宣言 with オビツキューピー」 (Everyone's Cupism Declaration, with OBQP) project at 藝泉 (Geisen) in Kyoto, we cooperated in the creation and exhibition of art works made by reusing B-grade OBQP that could not be sold as products.
What would normally have ended its role is reborn in a new form through the artist's ideas and expression, and is seen by many people again.
We believe that there lies, beyond mere reuse, a new possibility for manufacturing: "taking a fresh look at the value of things."
A Charity Product Born
from a Bond in Manufacturing
Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing continues to make things in Kanamachi, Tokyo. 箔座 (Hakuza Co., Ltd.), headquartered in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, is a long-established company specializing in gold leaf and leaf products.
From the bond between "artisans" and "manufacturing" that each company has carried on in its own region, a special product was born: OBQP finished in gold leaf. Each piece embodies the skill of Kanazawa's artisans. "OBQP Gold Leaf" was made and sold as a charity product to support recovery from the Noto Peninsula earthquake and floods, and part of the sales was donated to support the recovery.
Supporting the future
of young people.
Bringing smiles to local children.
And connecting the value of things
to the future.
Each one may be a small initiative.
Yet we believe that engaging with society through manufacturing, and sincerely building up what we are able to do, is the kind of social contribution that suits Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing.
With the care for people we have cherished since our founding, and pride in our craft.
Obitsu Plastic Manufacturing will continue to make things that stay close to the future of people and society.
